Stop calling what’s happening in Ferguson a “riot”.

It is not a riot.

Vancouver losing the Stanley Cup a few years ago was a riot. It was angry, drunken destruction with no purpose. (And as a Canadian, it was a shameful event)

Ferguson is not a riot. It is a protest. It is an uprising. It is a civil rights revolution. The prople of Ferguson may be angry, but they have a reason to be angry, and they are not violent, and they are not hooligans, thugs or looters. They are protesting for their human rights which are currently being denied.

Look at the difference between a riot and a protest. A riot is chaos. A protest has a purpose.

“After obsessively Googling symptoms for four hours, I discovered ‘obsessively Googling symptoms’ is a symptom of hypochondria.”

the term “aro-ace” is especially lovely because it also sounds like “arrow ace.” are you aromantic and asexual or are you an incredibly skilled and deadly archer. surprise, you’re both

Hate doesn’t breed hate. Hate inspires anger in victims of hatred and that anger is called hatred to delegitimize it and villainize people. If you wanna help people who are victims then first you gotta stop acting like they’re just as bad their oppressors and abusers.

Reblog if your parents have ever:

madam-squishy:

- pointed out acne
- treated you like a little slave (you get them EVERYTHING)
- made fun of people who you idolize
- made you feel like an outcast
- ever called you a mistake or worthless
- forced you to go to a place where you weren’t comfortable
- made jokes about your weight
- made you cry
- made you break down
- made you feel like you were all alone
If so I’m going to send each and everyone of you a message!

reblogged before I even finished reading the list

Something Right

textingenjolras:

Enjolras sunk down further in his chair as he watched the clock in the waiting room turn from 4:58 to 4:59. In one minute he was going to be called into a room with a complete stranger and have to tell them personal information that, frankly, he didn’t want to even talk about.

I also love “Marius, what’s wrong today?” because I always hear it like “What’s wrong today?”, which implies that there’s something wrong with Marius most days.

Which is, as we know, probably true.

the police in ferguson are gonna drag this out as long as possible because they’re smart enough to know that the longer it drags on, the less the media will cover it, the less people will care, and the less they have to be responsible for. they don’t want the conflict to end because if it ended now, there might still be some accountability demanded. they know if they can make it drag on for another week or more, that every day it continues they’re less and less likely to receive any punishment for human rights violations because public interest will continue to drop. they’re tiring out and exhausting any defiance or anger.

GET ANGRY

This is a legitimate tactic often used to quell protests, but I believe that if we band together, we can win this thing.  be aware that they’re trying to do this, and don’t let them win.  don’t give up.  don’t stop talking about it.  spread the word to anyone and everyone you can, try your hardest to get all eyes on Ferguson.  if you see people spreading lies about what’s really happening, set the record straight.  get the word out.  WE WILL NOT LET THEM WIN THIS TIME

We won’t stop until the Earth is free

don’t give up, guys.  look at the history books, we’ve seen this kind of thing before.  many times.  we can do this.
